Yes, I stamped!

Well, I FINALLY got together with my stamping gal pals and made a couple of things this weekend. I made this One Sheet Bag, I found the tutorial by Beatie Johns on SCS. I had printed it off some time ago, and finally got around to giving it a shot. I'm glad I did, I think these will be cute with some Christmas candy in it! I didn't do much, I also made a Stationary Box, but haven't finished embellishing it and making the cards to go inside. Once I finish it, I'll post it, too!
Happy Hump Day, y'all! It is Wednesday, right? Geez, not working I never know what day it is now!

Red Box Code - good Wednesday, Thursday, Friday!

Check out Dion's Daily Deal for a free Red Box Code good Wednesday the 19th through Friday the 21st! This code is good for the Kansas City area only.

Wow, 1000 hits!

Okay, this thing sucks. I just typed a bunch of stuff and then it just friggin deletes on me. WTF. Anyhoo, woo hoo 1000 hits! Thanks for visiting me, even though I haven't posted for quite a while. October was crazy and November sucks. Actually 2008 sucks. (Hopefully 2009 is better.) I got laid off last week. Fun, huh? So, I haven't really been in the mood to papercraft. Although I suppose I should get in the mood since I might be making some Christmas gifts now. Plus, I'm getting together with my girlfriends this weekend so I need to figure out what I'm doing at our crop. So, hopefully I'll have something to post by Monday. :) Anyhoo, thanks for the 1000 hits, here's to 1000 more!

Jingle all the way!

Well, I've finally made something. This was my swap card that I made for Stamp Club last night. I've just been so busy this is the only thing I've been able to make. :( I sure do miss stamping! Does it look familiar? I cased it from Jeanie's card that she made last month when we got together for our monthly crop. I love paper, so I like how the paper makes this really simple card POP!

How cute is my little man?

So, I didn't get anything done that I'd hoped to this weekend. I didn't make my swap cards for Thursday, I didn't make Will's birthday thank you's (so I didn't get to write them out either), I didn't make it out to the Maple Leaf Festival either.... :( Instead of going to Baldwin, I opted to go the Pumpkin Patch instead. We didn't have the best of luck with our photo shoot of Will on KU's campus yesterday so I decided to try my luck at the patch today. It turned out really well! I think that we actually have a few pics to choose from! Now I just need to pick some, edit and PRINT!

Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF!

Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is a 58-year Halloween tradition beloved by generations across America. This year, Will is Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF Online and we’d like for you to join us!

In 1950, a group of young Philadelphia trick or-treaters, along with their pastor, began the tradition of knocking on doors and collecting funds for UNICEF on Halloween. Since then Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF has empowered generations to save kids lives in their global community through education and fundraising during the Halloween season.

Last year, kids with their families, schools and communities raised more than $4.5 million dollars and over $140 million dollars to date. I hope you will help Will make this year a huge success too.

Here are some examples of how a little can go a long way:

* $5 can provide a box of 100 disposable syringes for use during immunization campaigns.

* $15 can buy one carton of high energy protein biscuits to support and rehabilitate 3 severely malnourished kids for 1 month.

* $44 can provide school supplies to 20 kids

Below, you will find a link to
Will’s Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF fundraising webpage. It takes seconds to make a donation, and you can give any amount, a little or a lot. Since it's so easy to make an impact, I hope you'll support Will in this important cause. Because every kid counts!

Thank you for any support you may give!

Yes, I have been missing from the blogosphere...I've been getting ready for Mr. Will's 2nd birthday party! He turned 2 last week and we had 2 parties this weekend, one at home, and one in Oklahoma at my grandma's house. (And, now I'm broke!) It has been a LONG weekend. But, now I need to make thank you cards, so perhaps I'll get something posted soon, at least a picture of my cute little guy! I hope to get back in the swing of things soon!

Happy Birthday!

Is your birthday your favorite day of the year? Well, come January 10 it won't be my favorite anymore either...but do you love free stuff? I do, I do! Check out Freebies 4 Mom for birthday freebies from various restaurants and stores.

Will's birthday is next week, and so far, I've gotten a free Wacky Pack from Sonic and a free kids meal from Famous Dave's for him. I also just signed myself up at First Watch and already received a free entree! Sign up for Minsky's Pizza (KC Metro pizza chain) and you can get a free small pizza on your birthday! We've got a coupon from Jeff's birthday last month. Speaking of which, it expires soon, we need to use it!

Yes, I know, this isn't stamping related at all, but free food and goodies free up money to buy MORE stamping supplies! Hurray for freebies! Do you know of any other freebies that aren't on the Freebies 4 Mom list, leave me a comment. I love freebies!

Barb's Challenge

Well, I did it! I used the image and the scalloped rectangle that Barb sent me for her Random Mail Stamp Challenge to make this card. What do you think? I think it turned out okay. Do you wanna play? Leave me a comment, and I'll send YOU a random stamped image, too!

Finally a post!

September Gardner Stamp Club Swaps, Theme is Fall, from top - Marilyn, Vickie, Barb, Melissa, Mine

This is Barb's make-n-take that we all made, it's a Fold-Over Treat Envelope first seen in the TAC catty. Barb tells more about it here, and much more eloquently, too. :) And, Barb took both of these pics, the swap pic was on our Gardner Stamp Club page and the Envelope on her blog. How sad, I couldn't even take the time to take a picture myself. :( Oh well, Barb's pics are WAY better!

I agreed to participate in Barb's Random Mail Stamp Challenge, she told you about it here...and plan to actually get to it tonight! I misplaced the image she sent me, but finally found it last night. I'd like to get one more post in this month, cause I've been SLACKING (in all fairness, I've been fighting some sort of illness and spend most of my time at home coughing which in turn gives me a headache and we've been breaking the little guy from his pacifier, so I've had my hands full!) and haven't done much. :( Tonight is the night to get this done! I've got an idea, and hopefully I'll have it posted before midnight! Anyhoo, check out Barb's site and you'll find the other gals that have participated on the right side of her page. There's some cute stuff there! :) If you'd like to be the next to participate, leave a comment and I'll send you a random stamped image and the directions for the challenge!

Until this evening....

Another girls get together!

Mine

Francine

Jeanie

Michelle

I got together with the girls again this weekend. We did another shoebox party, this time making 2 items to share. We stamped for about 5 hours, ate lots of yummy food and made lots of fun stuff!
I made a card with 2 different colored bases. But, I cut my second pink CS wrong and changed up the purple card. I ended up liking it the best! The other is a mini post it note holder made from a coaster. So simple and pretty cute, too!
Francine's cards were super cute! Pretty detailed, with quite a few steps, but worth the time it took to make them. I love the mummy, I stamped a few extra so hopefully I can come up with something equally cute to make with them!
Jeanie's Christmas card was extremely simple, just the way I like it! I love the use of patterned paper, I HOARD paper so I should have lots to choose from when casing this...which I definitely plan to do! The other is another post it note holder that holds the 3x3 sized pad. It's made from an acrylic picture frame, you know those cheapie dollar ones. I believe there was a tutorial on SCS for it. What a quick, easy and useful, gift!
Michelle's card was simple, too. You know I like simple! We colored in the image with the SU pastels. So cute! I'm not a big fan of coloring (well, with anything other than crayons anyway) but love the look! The box is really cute, too! Again, really easy, and with a little stamping makes for a cute party favor!
I love it when we are able to get together. I wish we could do it more!

OMG!

OMG! I haven't made anything new in too long, I'm going through withdrawal! I have to make something this weekend though, cause the girls are coming over and we are doing another Christmas shoebox party! So, I DO have to find time to make something, well, 2 somethings, for it. Plus an entree and drinks, and I need to clean up some, too. When exactly will I find time to do all of this????
Anyhoo, here is a onesie I made for my good friend Erin's baby shower. I made a onesie card to give her, with snaps on the bottom but forgot to take a picture. I made a bunch of these and strung them together to make a garland. Everyone seemed to like them. I also used this Sweet One stamp from SU and the scallop punch to make cutlery wraps (attached the punched image to a strip of cardstock and wrapped around the silverware and napkins). Simple, but cute. I also wrapped a couple of small drinking cups for use in one of our shower games, Bottom's Up. :) It's a game with little plastic babies (by Wilton, in the cake decorating aisle), you put them in a cup and roll them like dice and try to get their bottoms to land up! We never actually played it, because it was a couples shower and you KNOW how boys are, but still a fun game idea!
Wow, I ended up having more to say here than I orginally thought! Huh? Well, today is mine and my husband's anniversary! Four glorious years! So, even though he'll be working til very late tonight, I probably still won't find any time to make anything. But, I'll try to do something before he gets home. We are going out Saturday night, nothing fancy, we have free tickets to the Royals game so we are going to get the free stocking cap. I don't know what else we'll do, the boats? How very romantic! And smoky! Yuck! We went to Argosy earlier this month for Jeff's birthday, and I'd forgotten how incredibly smoky those places are. I could smell it in the revolving door at the front, and it just got worse the further in we walked. I'm glad that we don't go very often, it had probably been 3 years since I've been out there. And, I guess I'll be fine if I wait another 3 years to go again. We did make some money there though! Gotta love the penny slots! We left with more money than we went with, even after Jeff's beers, so it was a successful evening!
(OKAY, SO THE SPACES BETWEEN PARAGRAPHS AREN'T STAYING ONCE I PUBLISH, STOP THAT!)

Gooseberry Patch

I love Gooseberry Patch! They have the cutest stuff, the BEST cookbooks (my FAVORITES!) and I love all of the free recipes I get from their newsletter. Sometimes, I even find time to MAKE them! Here's a recipe I got in today's newsletter. I love freshly-baked bread, and this is just too simple!

Honey Quick Bread

2-1/2 c. all-purpose flour

1 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
1 t. baking powder
1/4 t. cinnamon

1/2 c. oil
1-1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. honey

Mix all ingredients together; spoon into a greased and floured 9"x5" loaf pan. Let stand for 20 minutes; bake at 375 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. Makes one loaf.

I made some of Will's birthday invites last night and they are no where near as cute as I'd hoped. I had been lucky enough to find some Cars stamps a while back but they just din't work out for this. :-( Would have been too much work. So I just embellished my black and red layered cards with Cars stickers. Eh. :-( Maybe I can make something post-worthy tonight. We'll see. I am feeling better!

Grandparent's Day

I forgot to post these last weekend. These are a few cards Will and I made for grandparent's day. Didn't Will do a great job? :) My cards were quick and easy, the blocked one is my favorite. I've been under the weather this past week, I hope to maybe try to make something tomorrow. Hopefully! I've been itchin for some craftin!

Enabler Alert!!!!

I went to Archiver's today for a LEGITIMATE reason...to get B&W checkered paper for Will's birthday invites cause nobody else has any. Well, they now have the new extra-giga scalloped Marvy punches. They are HUGE! I was going to use my 30% off coupon on a Hot Spot item because I didn't need anything else. Well, new plan, the circle extra-giga had to come home with me. Dang it! I really need to save money, AND THIS AIN'T HELPING! I'll be back again after the 16th to use my other coupon on another extra-giga I guess.

Somebody please post and tell me they did the same thing!

Saturday Night Fun

Well, I was able to sneak in a few goodies last night. I started the note card holder the other night but didn't finish it because I ran out of adhesive. I finally finished it, and guess it turned out okay...there was too much black though.
I made the double pocket bag and matching cards with some new paper I hadn't used before. I didn't embellish much, just kept it super simple. I guess I could add a gift card for a quick gift!
I probably won't make anything else tonight, I'm super tired. I think I'm going to just veg and watch some tv. Sounds like a great night to me!

I ran out of adhesive twice tonight...

I made lots of cards tonight! I pretty much only used what I had upstairs, which wasn't much. I did have to run down once to get a few things to finish up the special day and the birthday card. I'm very happy with how these 2 turned out, and they were both made with all scraps! The bandana print even came from my scrap box, I don't even remember when I used the rest of it. Yea for me! And, Barb will recognize the circle from the special day card, it came from HER scrap box. A couple weekends ago when I stamped at her house for her scrap day, I hoarded that little circle hoping I could find something to do with it. I never did, so she MADE me take it home. I am so VERY happy with how this card turned out. It is my favorite! The trick or treat one is okay, it's missing something. I'm just not very good with the creepy, guess I should leave that to Barb. I even made another note card holder, but after running out of adhesive for the second time, I didn't feel like running after more. I'll finish it tomorrow.
Have a nice weekend, y'all!

A couple of quickies...

I made these with some scraps from the last couple of things I've made. I've got some pretty cute (well, one is cute) cards I made last night to send to our grandparents for Grandparents Day on Sunday. I'll post them either Saturday or Sunday after they've gotten them.

Happy Halloween!

Yea, I finally made something tonight! (Sorry the pic isn't better, the battery died as soon as I took this. I need to find a good place for taking pics of these, any suggestions?) I was sick all weekend, still am, but was set on making something tonight. It was quick and easy, I cased it from Patti's swap card from our last stamp club. Barb, you'll be so proud of me...it's a Halloweenie card!! Now, what I really need to be making is birthday invitations....Cars (the movie) invitations actually. So, hopefully, but not probably, those will be the next thing I post.... Why didn't I focus on those tonight? What was I thinking?

Note Card Holder - I actually did it!

Well, I said yesterday that I was going to try to make this and I did! It was quick and easy and super cute! The longest part was deciding what paper and cardstock I wanted to use. This will be added to the long list of things I'd like to try to get done for Christmas gifts this year!

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

1-1/8 inch punch

I was lucky enough to find a 1-1/8 inch circle punch today. I wasn't sure if they made one, but EK Success does! I found it on my 3rd stop. Yea!
I finished up this card tonight, it's for my stamp club swap on Thursday. I cased it from a card I found on SCS here but I used TAC Sprigs for the main image. It was super easy and fast. I think it turned out okay.
I found a great tutorial on Dannie's Designs. I hope to get to try it tomorrow night!

I've been discovered! Allison at Stampin' When I Can added me to her list of Newly Discovered Blogs. How cool is that?!? Check out her blog, she's got a lot of really fun stuff on there including a weekly challenge. I hope I can take the time to create something for her next one! Thanks for the shout out Allision!

Want some candy?

Go check out Barb's blog, Foster Design House and put your name in the hat for some blog candy! Barb is celebrating her 100th post and 5000 visitors! Congrats Barb! Oh, and isn't this card fabulous? An oldie

Well, maybe I'll actually get something new made this weekend. I have to actually. Me and some girlfriends are getting together to do a Christmas Shoebox! So, I have to come up with a card to make sometime!
This is my lil baby Will when he was just a youngin'. I was going to try to make this my announcement, but had too many to send out and this would have been a bit much to mass produce. Anyhoo, it doesn't seem like it was all that long ago that he was just a teeny baby...and now he's almost 2!

Only 30% off?

I received this coupon in a JoAnn email last night. Am I thinking too much into this? Is it the end of 40% off coupons? I sure hope not. I can't only pay 30% off. It's got to be 40% off or BETTER, preferably BETTER!
Well, Hobby Lobby has a 40% off coupon this week. There's a link in my coupon list to the right.

Red Box Wednesday

Did you know that if you start a post on one day and save it as a draft, and then finish it and actually post it on another day it will post for the day you originated it? That sucks. It should post to the day you actually push PUBLISH! So, my original Red Box Wednesday post posted on Monday, since I edited that draft because I never got it posted. Anyhoo, here's the Wednesday Red Box code...

Rent something good, like Tremors! JK4HM5

The rest of my goodies from Barb's...

Here is the stuff that I made at Barb's. 3 cards, a box in a bag, a frap bottle, and (not shown) a sour cream container that I gave to Barb with some chocolate for having me over! I didn't get a lot done, but I had a LOT of fun, and that's what matters most! Barb and her friends are CRAZY!

Red Box Wednesday

The free code for Wednesday is....JK4HM5. Enjoy your movie!

Kettle corn - I finally tried it over the weekend. Not bad! I popped it in a regular pot, I think it would work better in a whirly pop popper or electric popper though. Anything that can be stirred...but with the sugar, it'll make for a b!tch to clean up. My MIL has an electric one like the picture, and she let it sit overnight and she though clean up was a bit easier. It's worth a shot!

Enjoy your movie and popcorn!

Barb's stampin day and Harry Potter!

This is one of the cards I made at Barb's house on Saturday. Yes, and it was all made from Barb's scraps! What a fun idea, huh? If you, too, have lots of scraps at home. It would be fun to invite your friends over and see what you can create with them. I have a couple other little things I did, I just need to get pics taken of them. (I scanned this one at work....shhhh! Don't tell!)

I love all things Harry Potter. The books are AMAZING! And the movies are actually not half-bad either! I just happened across the trailer (now at the bottom of this page!) to the sixth book/movie in the series...Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince! The movie was originally going to be released in November of this year...but has now been rescheduled to open in July 2009 now! I can't wait that long. THAT'S A YEAR AWAY!!!!!!! How can they do this to us?

Paisley Shower

I still haven't made anything, but I plan to definitely on Saturday! I'll be going to Barb's house and helping her use up her scrap stash. What a fun challenge, she told us about it here. I hope to have some fun stuff to post tomorrow night.
This is a shower invite I made for my friend John and Erin's baby shower in June. She's having a boy...hopefully any day now! She's 38 weeks and ready to go! We are all so excited to meet Baby Ethan! Congrats John and Erin!

Red Box Code & Popcorn

Okay, so I haven't made anything in almost a week! And, I haven't even taken the time to scan or take a picture of something old to post. So, I will post whatever comes to mind...

There are now 3 Red Boxes in Gardner! One at Price Chopper, McDonald's and now at Wal-Mart! So, head on out and pick up a movie for FREE with Wednesday's free code Y72LR2. I signed up on the Red Box website to get a free Monday rental code texted to me weekly. They've added Wednesday codes as well, so I can get free movies twice a week now! Woo hoo!

Popcorn. The fair was in town last week and of course all of my kettle corn is now gone! Bummer! Good thing I'd ran across a recipe for it awhile back, I just had to go back and find it. I did, I got it in a newsletter from The Everyday Cheapskate, Mary Hunt.

Her newsletters include tips on anything you can imagine and are fun to read. Here is the Kettle Corn recipe, I haven't attempted it yet, but my MIL has and it is AWESOME! It tastes just like what you'd get at the fair!

Kettle Corn

1/2 cup un-popped popcorn kernels
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil

Place the popcorn, sugar and salt in a large pot with vegetable oil. Cover. Place pot over medium heat. When you hear the first pop, shake the pot and continue shaking back and forth to ensure that the popcorn kernels and oil do not burn. Once the popping has slowed, remove the pot from the heat.

Servings: 5. (Well, unless you're me, serves ONE!)

Free movie, (almost) free popcorn...all the makings for a great night! Enjoy!

All tuckered out...

Will all tuckered out after our drive to see Nana and PaPa... This was one of my favorite pictures of Will while we were gone. He finally gave in at about 10pm the night we got there. He crawled out of my lap and laid his head down on my leg and just fell asleep. Ahhh, he's all worth it! :)

Now, a survey. Why not? I was cleaning out my inbox and ran across this survey that I got from my friend Angie and thought I'd throw it up here. It's fun learning these quacky things about each other. (Plus, we've got family in town this weekend so there probably won't be any crafting done, so be prepared for a quiz on Monday!) Pretty!

Isn't this pretty? One of the guys at work was nice enough to bring this for me this morning! Ahh, what a sweetie! Thanks, Ken!

I'm back and two cards!

I'm back from vacation. We had a great time visiting my family! We went to Ikea (I got stuff for my craft room), went to see the ponies at the horse track and went to the zoo! It was a jam-packed couple of days, and I know Lil Will had a good ole time with NaNa, PaPa and D.

I decided to attempt making a couple of cards tonight. My inspiration came from my memory of this sketch I saw, but it didn't turn out exactly the same. I used scraps again, and I kind of like how it turned out.

This is the other card I made, also with scraps. I was again inspired by the above sketch, but couldn't figure out a way to finish it. I really liked the ribbon, but it was so big there didn't seem to be much room for anything else. So, I just threw the giga scallop circle on there and punched the individual holes. Eh, it's alright. It just seems too simple, but I do like the pink and black. Thanks, Barb for the color inspiration!
